The median rate for staying in a semi-private room in a nursing home is 89,2975 U.S. dollars, in comparison, adult day health care has a median rate of 18,720 U.S. dollars. Long-term care services often include assistance with basic personal and daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Long-term care may be subsidized by Medicare if you require skilled services or rehabilitative care such as staying at a nursing home for a maximum of 100 day. Medicaid also pays for a large share of long-term care services but it often depends on your income levels. As of 2016, 52 percent of Medicaid long-term care services expenditures were dedicated to home and community-based care.
Over 50 percent of residential care community users are over the age of 85 years old and those who are under 65 years of age, make up the largest share of adult day service center users.
