This statistic shows the registrations of newly diagnosed cases of lung cancer in England from 1995 to 2018, by gender. Lung cancer, also known as lung carcinoma, occurs when there is abnormal cell growth in the lungs, this abnormal growth can spread to other parts of the body. In 2018, nearly 20,453 males and 18,837 females were registered as newly diagnosed with lung cancer. The number for newly registered cases decreased for both females and males in comparison with the previous year
