Early-stage entrepreneurs in Americas by gender 2022

In Panama, Guatemala, and Colombia, over 30 percent of the adult male population were involved in running or setting up a start-up. The numbers among women were slightly lower, but around 25 percent or more in all three countries. The share was lowest in Mexico, where nearly 14 percent of the male and 12 percent of the female population were involved in the early stage of a start-up.

Early-stage entrepreneurial activity (TEA) is defined as the percentage of adults aged 18–64 who are either a nascent entrepreneurs or owner-managers of a new business, i.e. the proportion of the adult population who are either starting or running a new business.
