QR codes for payments in the U.S. and UK 2020

A majority of respondents from various countries across the world indicated they had used QR code for payments for the first in early 2021. More than than eight out of 10 respondents had now at least once in their life performed such a transaction. This was roughly twice as high as a figure from a previous survey held in September 2020 - with the source adding that the early months of 2021 especially were a time when most consumers used this payment type for the first time.

The figures have been taken from several publications. Whilst the April 2021 survey kept the overall structure from the September 2020 survey, the source behind it changed. This led to a change in countries surveyed and, possibly, a change in the survey question - the source does not provide any information on multiple answering options in 2021, as opposed to 2020. The source does explicitly mention, though, that the April 2021 was a direct follow-up from the survey in September 2020.
