The number of cruise passengers at Mediterranean ports rose in 2021 over the previous year, following a sharp drop in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, the ports of Genoa and Savona in Italy reported the highest cruise passenger volume among the selected Mediterranean ports in 2021, with roughly 591 thousand passengers. While this figure shows an increase compared to 2020, it remained below pre-pandemic levels. In 2021, Barcelona reported the second-highest volume, with around 520 thousand cruise passenger movements.
