It can be seen that the value of British banknotes removed from circulation fluctuated during the period under observation, reaching a total of nearly 10.7 billion British pounds of notes as of 2018/2019. The lowest value of British banknotes removed from circulation and destroyed in one year was over 9.42 billion British pounds of notes, in 2016/17.
