Germany: transportation & storage production value

The production value of the transportation and storage industry in Germany saw a drop of 32,200 million euros in 2020. This drop corresponded with the start of COVID-19 pandemic in the same year. Previous to 2020 the production value in the industry had been growing and reached a peak of nearly 240 billion euros in 2019.

The production value is defined as turnover, plus or minus the changes in stocks of finished products, work in progress and goods and services purchased for resale, minus the purchases of goods and services for resale, plus capitalised production, plus other operating income (excluding subsidies). Income and expenditure classified as financial or extra-ordinary in company accounts is excluded from production value.

Data coverage corresponds to code H of NACE Rev 2.
