This statistic illustrates the main sources for current and planned retirement incomes in three Western European nations: Spain, Germany and France, as of 2018. It can be seen that the highest share of people relying on the governmental plans and social benefits was to be found in Spain, with a share of 66 percent at that time. A further 23 percent of Spanish adults planned to use their own savings and investments for retirement support, in comparison with 30 percent in Germany and 27 percent in France. The largest share of respondents stating that a main source of retirement income would be from their employer or previous employers was found in France as of 2018.
