Volume of radioactive waste by type in France 2016-2021
The volume of radioactive waste in France in 2021 pushed 1.76 million of cubic meters, of which the majority were of low-to-intermediate radioactivity. Over 91 percent of them were of very low or low-to-intermediate level of radioactivity with short-term management and a lifetime of maximum 300 years. Highly radioactive waste present on the French territory were around 4,300 cubic meters in 2021.
