Global e-waste generation by type 2019

In 2019, temperature exchange equipment such as fridges and air-conditioning units amounted to 17.4 million metric tons of global e-waste. This was an increase of seven percent compared to the volume recorded in 2014.

Electronic waste is the world's fastest growing waste stream, and is becoming a global environmental issue. Often, e-waste is either landfilled or incinerated, causing health risks to humans as dangerous toxins are released.
