Global e-waste generation by region 2019
Globally, Asia generates the largest volume of electronic waste. In 2019, the region produced 24.9 million metric tons of e-waste, almost twice the amount of the Americas. Of this amount, just 11.7 percent was documented to be collected and properly recycled. E-waste that is not disposed of properly can result in toxic substances polluting the environment.
