Share of Italians receiving antibiotics from a medical practitioner 2022

Antibiotics are medications that can kill or hinder the growth of bacteria which cause infections in people and animals. In 2022, a survey on the topic of resistance to antibiotics revealed that 90 percent of respondents in Italy had obtained their last course of antibiotics from a medical practitioner, this was just under the European average at 92 percent. Only ten percent of respondents in Italy reported that they obtained their last course of antibiotics from a source other than a medical practitioner.
