Global e-waste generation shares by type

An estimated 53.6 million metric tons of e-waste was generated worldwide in 2019. Roughly 32 percent of this total consisted of small equipment like microwaves, vacuum cleaners, and kettles. Large equipment such as washing machines and dishwashers accounted for a quarter of total e-waste produced worldwide in 2019.
