Number of prisoners in Finland 2021, by prisoner group
As of 2021, there were 2,809 inmates in all prisons in Finland. Most of the prisoners were sentenced prisoners who serve a sentence of unconditional fixed-term or life imprisonment. Furthermore, there were 621 remand prisoners in pre-trial detention, and 37 fine default prisoners who serve a conversion sentence for unpaid fines.
