In 2002, Tim was the market leader in the fixed-line broadband segment in Italy. With a market share of 53.1 percent, Tim ranked well above its competitor Fastweb, which accounted for about a third of the broadband market. In third position, Vodafone generated about 10.4 percent of the total revenues derived from fixed-line broadband subscriptions in the country.
