In that year, the Gulf Coast (PADD 3) had a vacuum distillation refining capacity of 4.76 million barrels of crude oil per day. The U.S. Gulf Coast region refines approximately 45 percent of the crude oil refined in the U.S., making it the U.S.' largest refining region. It also has the distinction of being the largest fuel producing region in the world.
