Net internal migration in Italy 2018, by region
In 2018, the North Italian region Lombardy had the greatest increase in inhabitants nationwide, with a net migration of 3.4 per 1,000 inhabitants, followed by Emilia-Romagna. On the contrary, Calabria recorded the lowest net migration rate, with a negative value of 5.2. Similarly, several regions in the South and in the Center showed negative figures, which means that the amount of residents who moved out of these regions was higher than the number of residents moving into the same areas.
