* Supervised freedom is a personal, non-custodial safety measure consisting in the restriction of personal freedom of the subject which aim at preventing the commission of new crimes and social reintegration.
** Semi-freedom means the possibility to spend the majority of time out of jail during the day to seek working activity, to study or to do a voluntary job.
*** Probation replaces short prison sentences (maximum six months) and implies the prohibition to leave the municipality of residence and the obligation to report at least once a day at specified times to the Public Security Office.
**** Semi-detention replaces short prison sentences (maximum one year) and implies the obligation to spend at least ten hours per day in the assigned penal institutions.
