AIDS cases in heterosexual contacts 2020-2021, by transmission category

Between 2020 and 2021, 382 new AIDS cases were reported in Italy. Among the AIDS cases reported by heterosexual individuals, three percent happened among heterosexual women having a partner who was an injecting drug user (IDU). According to the data, almost all of diagnosed AIDS cases among both heterosexual males and females were caused by promiscuous partners.
