Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) of Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands from May 2017 to May 2018

Exclusive Premium Statistic

Economic Sentiment Indicator of the Benelux 2017-2018 This statistic shows the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) of Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands from May 2017 to May 2018. The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) characterizes the general economic situation in a defined period. It is a combination of five different confidence indicators, each with its own different weights:
Industrial confidence indicator;
Services confidence indicator;
Consumer confidence indicator;
Construction confidence indicator;
Retail trade confidence indicator.

These indicators are designed to show how optimistic or pessimistic a group feels about the general market or certain business environments and how various factors, such as unemployment or inflation, affect future behavior.

In January 2018, Luxembourg reached a positive index of approximately 112.9. In the period between December 2016 to December 2017, the ESI in all three Benelux-countries has increased for the most part. Despite that, a drop in confidence was noted in February 2017. Also, Belgium's ESI decreased in this period, even though it showed a sign of recovering in June 2017.
