BASF death toll of selected accidents 1921-2018

This statistic shows the number of fatalities and injuries associated with selected BASF accidents from 1921 to 2018, most of which occurred in Ludwigshafen, Germany, where the chemical company is headquartered. On October 17, 2016 four people died and at least 20 more were injured in an explosion at the Ludwigshafen North Harbor terminal. On September 4, 2017 one of the individuals injured in the October 2016 accident passed away.

* The initial death toll of the 2016 accident in Ludwigshafen was three BASF employees and one sailor of a tanker that was moored at the harbor. On September 4, 2017 another BASF employee who was injured in the accident succumbed to his injuries.
