Global decrease in mining exploration spending due to Covid-19 by commodity 2020
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the global mining industry. The budget for copper exploration for 2020 was projected (as of the first quarter of 2020) to be some 935 million U.S. dollars lower than in 2019. Overall, mining exploration spending was estimated at 6.61 billion U.S. dollars for 2020, down from 9.29 billion U.S. dollars in 2019.
