Peru: change in copper mine production 2020, by company

In August 2020, copper mine production in Peru decreased by 10 percent in comparison to the previous year. Antamina, one of the largest copper producing companies in the country, registered a decrease of eight percent in production. Meanwhile, Hudbay reported a 40 percent year-on-year decrease in output that month. Combined with Las Bambas and Southern Peru Copper, these four companies accounted for nearly 56 percent of copper production in Peru in 2019.
Quarantine measures against the spread of COVID-19 in Peru were put in place in mid-March, leading the majority of mining companies to suspend operations, maintaining only critical activities.
