According to the results, 28.6 percent of ophthalmologists conduct less than 25 percent of primary eye exams, with the majority conducting between 25 and 75 percent of exams or more than 90 percent. Ophthalmologists are medical practitioners who specialize in medical and surgical eye care. They are normally a second point of contact, with optometrists being the primary care contact.
