Between 2016 and 2018, the value of sustainable investment assets grew by 34 percent to a value of approximately 30.7 trillion U.S. dollars. Europe and the United States accounted for around 26 trillion of this total amount. Sustainable investing is an approach by companies with an investment portfolio that takes into consideration environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. Global sustainable investment assets (GSIA) is a broad term that takes both responsible investing and socially responsible investing (SRI) into account.
