Market share of Tesla cars in the Netherlands 2012-2019 Tesla Inc. is an American automobile manufacturer, specialized in manufacturing fully electric vehicles. The growing demand for these electric cars goes hand in hand with the annual increase in the market share of Tesla in the Netherlands. In 2012, Tesla held a share of just 0.01 percent, whereas by April 2019 this had increased to 2.36 percent. Similar results can be observed in the total volume of Tesla cars sold in the Netherlands. Sales figures increased significantly, as Tesla sold 26 electric automobiles in 2012 and 8,589 Teslas in 2018. As of April 2019, the sales volume amounted to 2,761.
Sales volume increase Tesla models S and X

Tesla sold up until 2019 four different models in the Netherlands, Tesla Model S, X, 3 and the Tesla Roadster. Both the Tesla models S and X had the highest sales volumes since its introduction. The Tesla model S had, despite a slight decrease in 2016, a steady annual increase to a total of 5,622 sold Tesla Model S cars in 2018. Tesla saw with their Model X the total sales volume amount to 2,963 cars in 2018, an increase of approximately 1,700 Tesla’s compared to the previous year.

Tesla leading fully electric car

Examining the leading fully electric passenger cars in the Netherlands in 2019, Tesla Model S leads the ranking with 12,773 registrations, whereas the registrations volume of the Tesla Model X amounted to 4,632 electric vehicles. As Tesla cars generally costs more than 50,000 euros however, soon the Tesla sales volume is likely to be affected by new tax rules regarding electric cars with a value of more than 50,000, which were adopted in January 2019
