Number of fast chargers for electric cars in Netherlands 2011-2023
As of May 2023, there were 4,000 fast charging points for electric vehicles in the Netherlands, an increase of around 33 percent year-on-year. The number of public and semi-public charging stations increased to around 145,200 in 2023.
Registrations of electric cars and motor vehicles
The volume of new electric passenger car registrations fluctuated between 2014 and 2018 but has been growing significantly since, rising to more than 160,900 new passengers cars in 2023. This compares to almost 107,600 new electric passenger cars in the previous year and 67,000 electric vehicles in 2019.
Tesla Model 3 leading registrations
As of July 2024, the most common fully electric passenger car model on Dutch roads was the Tesla Model 3, of which there were over 49,500 registered. This was a sharp advantage compared to the second most popular battery-electric car, the Tesla Model Y, of which there are close to 28,400 units. With about 27,200 cars registered, the Kia Niro has fallen behind the Model Y in terms of popularity.
