This statistic presents the results of a survey conducted in 2018 about the perceived share of women suffering from physical or sexual abuse by their partner or spouse in Japan, based on the gender of respondents. According to data published by Ipsos, female respondents guessed that 28 percent of women in Japan had suffered from physical or sexual violence. The actual share of victims stood at 15 percent, which indicated a 12 percent difference to what male and female respondents in Japan estimated.
