Gross margin of Signify (Philips Lighting) 2015-2018 Signify, officially known as Philips Lighting, is a separate company from Philips after their split in 2016. However, Signify is allowed to use the name ‘’Philips’’ up until 2030. Regarding the financial performances, Signify had a gross margin of just below 2.4 billion euros in 2018. This is a decrease compared to the previous year, when the lighting company reached a margin of approximately 2.7 billion euros. Signify registered similar positive results regarding the net income. As of 2018, a net income of 261 million euros was reached, whereas in 2017 this was 20 million higher.
Professional division generated highest sales revenue

Examining the total sales revenue of Signify by business group, the professional division generated the highest revenue in 2018. Approximately 2.6 billion euros came from the professional division, whereas the LED division reached 1.8 billion euros. Categorizing the sales revenue by market, Europe had the highest sales revenue with approximately 2.3 billion euros.

Decline in Signify’s EBITDA in 2018

A way to evaluate a company’s performance without having to factor in different tax environments etc., the earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) is a good accounting measure. In 2018, Signify had an EBITDA of roughly 500 million euros, which is a decrease compared to the previous year.
