Number of heat pumps in operation in Sweden 2013-2020
The total amount of heat pumps in operation in Sweden has continuously increased over the years, both ground source and aerothermal heat pumps. In all years, aerothermal heat pumps were by far more common than ground source heat pumps.
In 2019, Sweden had approximately 1.9 million heat pumps in operation, of which, roughly 1.3 million were aerothermal heat pumps. In the same year, the 28 European Union members had approximately 40 million heat pumps in operation.
