Nuclear power's share of the German energy mix 2000-2021
In 2021, nuclear power contributed with 11.8 percent of the German electricity mix. In the period of consideration, figures presented a trend of decline. A particularly significant drop was recorded in 2011, following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in Japan, which caused the German government to revise its nuclear energy policy, scheduling the phase-out of existing plants.
