This statistic shows the number of poultry farms that were operating in Switzerland between 2010 and 2017. After starting this period at 13,950 farms, the number of poultry farms in Switzerland declined to 12,363 by 2014. Since then, the number of Swiss poultry farms has increased in each of the following three years to end the period with 13,224 farms.

An agricultural business that carries out crop production and/or livestock farming throughout the entire year; includes one or more production plants; is autonomous legally, economically, organizationally and financially and independent from other farms; has its own operating result; is farmed throughout the entire year.

An agricultural holding complies with the following minimum standards:
1 ha utilized agricultural area (UAA) or
30 acres of special crops or
10 acres of protected crops or
8 sows or
80 fattening pigs or
80 fattening pig places or
300 poultry units.
