Mexico: number of kidnapping cases 2015-2019

The abduction of people is a recurring security problem in Mexico. In 2019, a total of 1,323 cases of kidnapping were registered in the country, up from 1,185 cases reported a year earlier. The number of kidnappings in the Latin American country has remained steady above 1,300 and below 1,400 cases in the past five years, except from the decrease presented in 2018.
