Mexico: femicide victims 2015-2019

From January to December 2019, a total of 976 murders were classified as femicides in Mexico. This type of homicide is defined as the killing of a woman or girl on account of their gender. The number of Mexican women who were victims of femicide has been continuously rising at least since 2015, when only 411 such cases were reported. In Latin America, Brazil was the country with the highest number of femicides.
