This chart presents the net percentage change in store openings and closures across Great Britain from the first half of 2017 to the first half of 2018, by location type. Over this period of time, store closures increased by 20 percent in total. In contrast, store openings experienced a 2 percent drop. In high streets, more store closures were observed than new stores emerging, with a 14 percent increase in closures against a 5 percent decrease in openings.
