Theme parks or amusement parks are a type of leisure attraction, usually aimed at families and people of all ages. For an admission fee, parks offer themed entertainment, such as rides and shows, within an outdoor or indoor area. The most popular theme parks are the Disneyland parks. Disneyland Paris is the most visited amusement park in Europe, followed by Europa Park in Germany.

Attractions at amusement parks are often included in the entry ticket price, although facilities such as restaurants are normally charged additionally. Alton Towers, one of the UK’s leading theme parks, is also the most expensive; for a single adult admission, prices exceeded 60 euros in 2018.

Although many of the most attended parks tend to revolve around rides and rollercoasters, similar attractions can include museums, animal parks and water parks. Germany is home to some of the most visited water parks in Europe, including Therme Erding and Tropical Islands. Merlin Entertainment, one of the biggest amusement park companies in the world besides Disney, also operates numerous types of attractions. These include Sealife Centres, the Madam Tussauds wax museums and Legoland Discovery Centres and resorts.

The original Legoland theme park opened in Billund, Denmark in the late sixties. Although it is among the leading theme parks in Europe, its British counterpart, Legoland Windsor, ranks higher for value and attendance. Legoland Windsor attracts over two million visitors a year.

When it comes to rides, Europa Park in Germany is among the best in terms of value for money. With the highest number of rides among customers' favorite parks, it has a cost per ride of less than 50 cents (EUR). For fans of rollercoasters, the fastest roller coaster in Europe can be found at Ferrari Land in Spain: Red Force reaches a top speed of 179.9 kilometers per hour.
