Building Legoland resorts

Legoland Windsor is one of eight Legoland park resorts worldwide. The first Legoland opened in Billund, Denmark in 1968, where the Lego brand of children’s toys is headquartered. Legoland Windsor became the second ever Legoland resort to open in 1996 in the UK, and quickly overtook the Danish site in terms of attendance. Collectively, the eight Legoland park resorts attracted a total of around 9.4 million visitors in 2021.

Who owns Legoland?

Legoland Windsor, as well as other Legoland resorts and Legoland Discovery Centre attractions, are owned and operated by Merlin Entertainments. Merlin Entertainments is a global cooperation, headquartered in the UK, that operates leading family attractions worldwide, including theme park resorts, and brands such as Sealife Centres and Madame Tussauds. In total, Merlin's Legoland parks generated around 537 million British pounds in 2021.
