Number of problem users of sedatives in India 2017-2018 by state

According to a survey on substance use in India between December 2017 and October 2018, the state of Uttar Pradesh had around 350 thousand respondents who needed help for sedative-related problems. Maharashtra and Punjab followed Uttar Pradesh with an average of about 200 million people who had a sedative addiction. Overall it was seen that Uttar Pradesh had the highest proportion of problem users of various substances including alcohol, cannabis and other drugs.
