Australia: school attendance rates by Indigenous status 2022

In 2022, the average school attendance rate for First Nations students in Australia was just under 75 percent. This was more than ten percent lower than the average attendance for non-Indigenous students in Australia that year. After remaining relatively steady between 2014 and 2019, school attendance rates for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and non-Indigenous students experienced a drop since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
