As of 2021, a large share of consumers surveyed in the Netherlands indicated that they drink flavored water because it contains fewer calories and less sugar than soft drinks do. Roughly 43 percent of survey respondents who drink flavored water at least once per month do so because it contains fewer calories, while a further 44 percent of respondents cited the better taste as a reason to drink flavored water.
