French people' support for Catholic Church reforms 2021, by religious practice
The French and Catholics are generally very much in favor of a thorough reform of the religious institution. The idea of convening a council to "update" the Church is the one with the highest support (89 percent among the French, 92 percent among Catholics). The last council to reform the Catholic Church, the Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican, took place between 1962 and 1965, and is commonly known as Vatican II.
