The total number of knee replacement procedures conducted in England annually has generally increased over the provided time interval until 2019/20. In 2009/10, approximately 72.6 thousand knee replacement procedures were carried out in England, this number increased had increased to almost 94 thousand by 2018/19. Although, in the COVID-19 pandemic affected year of 2020/21, there were only 31.1 thousand knee replacements carried out.
