In 2014, the country collectively spent some 15 billion U.S. dollars on these cosmetic procedures.
Among nonsurgical procedures, Botoulinum Toxin Type A (Botox or Dysport) are one of the most commonly known procedures. Consumers spent 650 million U.S. dollars on this procedure in 2017. Consumers in the country have been actively researching and conducting online research on cosmetic surgery. This could indicate the increased care for appearance and disposable income enabling consumers to spend money on these procedures. Among nonsurgical cosmetic procedures, photorejuvenation procedures satisfied 95 percent of patients. Among dermatologic procedures in the U.S., skin cancer treatments are the most common, totaling some three million cases. The United States has one of the highest numbers of cosmetic procedures performed in the world.
