Latin America: share of fintechs founded by women 2018
As of 2018, Uruguay was the Latin American country with the highest share of fintechs founded by women. A survey conducted in that year revealed that up to 47 percent of fintech startups set up in Uruguay had at least one woman as a founder or co-founder. Peru was also one of the Latin American countries with the highest prevalence of women founders among fintechs, with a share of 44 percent. Among the nations surveyed, Chile had the lowest female founders rate, at 16 percent. Yet Chile was one of the Latin American countries with the highest female early-stage entrepreneurship activity (TEA).
