Measures taken by Uber in Brazil during the COVID-19 outbreak 2020
As of March 17 2020, Uber maintained that none of its drivers and deliverers in Brazil had tested positive for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes the COVID-19. The company announced that workers affected by the disease or by an eventual lockdown in the South American country would be financially assisted for 14 days. Uber drivers and deliverers would receive an allowance based on their performance during the previous six months. Meanwhile, food delivery app iFood had a similar response to the coronavirus in Brazil.
