Share of farmers without income by sector in France 2017

French farmers are unequal in their ability to pay themselves an income depending on their sector of activity. In 2017, 30.1 per cent of farmers working in the cereals and field crops sector were either unable to earn an income or were in deficit. Cattle farmers are somewhat more spared extreme poverty with a rate of 14.9 per cent who cannot pay themselves a salary at the end of the month.
