Italian graduates who would work abroad 2018, by course of study

According to a research from 2019, 47.2 percent of Italian university graduates would move abroad for working reasons. In particular, 48.5 percent of undergraduates who achieved their degree in Italy in 2018 declared that they would work abroad.

In 2019, 11.9 percent of young people with a university education was unemployed. Youth unemployment rate in Italy was among the highest in the European Union. In 2020, the unemployment rate of individuals aged 15 to 24 years reached 29.6 percent.
