Number of overnight stays after the coronavirus outbreak in Denmark 2020

As a consequence of the coronavirus outbreak, the number of guest nights in Denmark declined as of March 2020. In detail, 1.3 million overnight stays were registered in March 2020, which was nearly one million fewer compared to the previous year. The figures looked even worse for April 2020, when roughly 1.3 million overnight stays were registered, compared to 4.5 million the previous year. The number of overnight stays increased the following months, however, reaching roughly four million in June 2020.

On March 11, 2020, Denmark officially shut down and closed all borders only a few days later. For further information about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, please visit our dedicated Facts and Figures page.
