Share of households buying organic products in the Netherlands 2018-2019

More than 95 percent of households in the Netherlands bought organic products in 2019. This was a slight increase compared to the year before, when approximately 94 percent of households purchased organic products. All in all, organic food and non-food products were very popular in the Netherlands despite their relatively high prices. The most important reasons for buying organic products rather than their generic counterparts were environmental concern, better treatment of animals, and the pureness of ingredients.
