Number of work permits granted in Sweden 2020, by type of application

In 2020, 15,231 work permits were granted in Sweden. The vast majority of the granted applications were from persons abroad (11,517 work permits). Other work permits granted were, amongst others, given to persons with rejected asylum applications, or to persons living in Sweden on visas. The largest share of the work permits were granted for general work requiring shorter education or trainings. In contrast, the second highest share of permits were granted for work requiring in-depth higher eduation.
